The clear bra (or paint protection film) on my truck is about 15 years old and it is in HORRIBLE shape. The clear bra is cracking, baked on and looks terrible. I knew this job was going to take a lot of time and some serious work so I've been putting it off for far too long. I think it's the 3M automotive clearshield, but I'm not certain as I didn't install it. Today, it's time to tackle this project. I'm going to show you some different methods I tried to remove the clear bra and show you what worked best for me. Hopefully, my trial and error will be able to help you with your project. This should also help remove clear bra from bumper too. Does removing clear bra damage paint? Watch the video to find out!
Some tools used in this project:
Lisle Gasket Scraper - https://amzn.to/3vyZSvK
Panel Removal Tool - https://www.harborfreight.com/nylon-pry-bar-installer-kit-4-pc-63594.html -----OR----- https://amzn.to/3js68AF
Heat Gun (similar to the one used) - https://amzn.to/3AZjvOB
I did use basic unleaded gasoline to remove adhesive effectively. This is very dangerous since its very flammable and can damage surfaces. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! The purpose of this video is to show you how I was able to remove the clear bra or paint protection film (PPF) from my vehicle.
